Best’s E-Fusion Interview’s RI3K’s Letts on Electronic Exchange

August 21, 2006

The latest edition of A.M. Best’s E-Fusion Podcast features an interview with RI3K’s Chief Executive Alex Letts. The Company unveiled its new online risk-trading system earlier this year (See IJ Website May 30). It’s set up to handle the large volume of business that will begin flowing from Aon in September (See IJ Website June 26, Aug. 16).

“RI3K and eReinsure, a U.S.-based company, will present at the E-Fusion Conference, set for Oct. 23-24 in Boston,” said Best. The two companies–both of which are several years old–are notable because there have been some high-profile disappointments in this arena–Kinnect, a Lloyd’s-backed venture, and inreon, a joint venture set up by Munich Re and Swiss Re, which both failed to fulfill the hopes of their high-profile sponsors.

“Letts believes that the time has arrived for electronic risk exchanges, and that his firm and eReinsure are succeeding because they’re leaner, more focused and better at execution,” said the announcement. “The London Market, which is a center for global insurance and reinsurance risk, is ready for continued automation, Letts explains in the audio interview.”

The two-day E-Fusion Conference focuses on developments in insurance technology, insurance issues and operations. Part of the conference involves finalists making presentations for the E-Fusion Awards. The awards, which are independently judged, seek to recognize innovative uses of insurance technology.

In conjunction with the conference, Best has launched a new podcast series focused on insurance technology and the E-Fusion Conference. The audio series covers technology developments, conference details and the E-Fusion Awards. Each episode includes an interview with a technology leader associated with the E-Fusion Conference.
