Crawford Nominated for British Insurance Awards

June 17, 2005

Crawford & Company, an independent claims management solutions
provider, announced that its United Kingdom operations have been nominated for two British Insurance Awards.

The categories that Crawford has been nominated for are:

– The Major Loss Award
– The Claims Initiative of the Year.

Crawford’s entry for the Major Loss Award was a claim involving The National Motorcycle Museum and Conference Center. The company was instructed by insurers to adjust a claim for major fire devastation
at the museum and a reinstatement of the premises was achieved with remarkable speed.

The first social function was held less than 14 months after the fire occurred. In addition, approximately 300 motorcycles were sourced as replacement exhibits, and a massive 80 percent of previous clients rebooked for functions in 2005.

Crawford has been short-listed in the Claims Initiative of the Year category for the work of its National Subsidence Unit (NSU).

U.K. climate changes have had a major impact on subsidence claims
and these claims can reportedly be very complex, costly, and highly disruptive and intrusive for householders.

Crawford & Company NSU met the challenge to reduce the time, complexity, and cost of this type of claim, whilst minimizing the disruption caused to householders.

Crawford & Company is also a member of the Flood Repairs Forum which also made the short-list for the Claims Initiative of the Year award.

The problem of flood damage prompted a cross-industry group of insurers, adjusters, and suppliers to meet and consider the handling of flood claims in its entirety and work toward best practise solutions.

Commenting on the nominations, Ian Muress, chief executive officer, Crawford U.K. & Ireland said, “These nominations reflect our ability to truly understand our clients’ needs, provide innovative solutions,
and demonstrate our professional and client-focused approach.”

Award winners will be announced at a presentation dinner on July 6 at The Royal Albert Hall in London.
