AIG Consultants Launches Business Protection Unit

April 21, 2005

AIG Consultants Inc., a member company of American International Group, announced the launch of its Business Protection Division. The new unit, which was developed in tandem with AIG Corporate Security and AIG Global Business Continuity, “will provide consulting services that are designed to help enterprises assess and limit their exposure to terrorism risks and business continuity disruptions,” said the bulletin.

The new Division will provide “customized risk assessments conducted by teams of highly specialized engineers, military-trained facility security/CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive) specialists and business recovery experts,” it continued. “The assessments identify current and emerging threats to an organization and are supported by tailored security management programs. Furthermore, the division will provide clients with access to expert geopolitical intelligence via the AIG Companies’ Executive Briefing Book, a secure, web-based source of country-by-country risk reports and commentary on industry-specific terrorism risk exposures.”

“In a world where our economy has become the primary target of international terrorism, corporations of all sizes need a clear understanding of their terrorism exposure on a global basis,” stated Stephen Cook, president, AIG Consultants. “Furthermore, corporations need to implement security measures and risk management programs that are specifically designed to address their terrorism exposures, reduce risk and help ensure that their businesses can continue to operate should a terrorist event occur. The Business Protection Division will not only help clients address terrorism risks in a proactive way, but will also assist them in developing processes and procedures that can ensure the timely and efficient recovery from a catastrophic event.”

The announcement also noted that the Business Protection Division would “help companies gain access to Lexington Insurance Company’s Homeland Security Practice and the Homeland Protectors terrorism insurance portfolio. Through its Homeland Security Practice, Lexington Insurance Company, a member company of AIG, offers a comprehensive set of terrorism insurance products, including coverage for biological and chemical attacks, as well as business interruption coverage.”
