It’s good news to see a major company taking the initiative, and offering the young drivers a chance to get into the “System” at an affordable level. Could you please give some idea of potential costs. £199 to fit black box, but how much per mile?
    Will you accept “Hot Hatches?”
How much differance will “Psas Plus” make?

Its interesting that in the US the word scheme has a negetive connotation where as in the UK it is more of a neutral word.

Pinpointers, the vehicle telematics company, already has a ready-to-go package for motor insurers.
Pinpointers PII (PAYG Insurance Infrastructure) enables insurance companies to design their own motor insurance package for charging customers based upon vehicle usage.
Pinpointers PII consists of every element required to implement the complete solution – hardware, software, installation network, support and flexible reporting – available now as a proven system.
However, as Pinpointers products use the GPRS network not GSM, costs are set and predictive, a significant advantage in simplifying the administration of costs and billing. For more information call +44 1202 496694 now, for a more cost effective and flexible solution.

My only question is can anyone else operate the vehicle? If it is a family car does that mean the parents can’t use it during off-peak without charging their child?

My husband and i run the exeter national charity group “Roadpeace” who have been constantly campaigning for the last 12 yrs of ways to make our roads safer, amongst ,many other issues. A few questions that we would greatly appreciate an answer too.
If all drivers had to display a current insurance certificate in the car windscreen as many other countries do, surely this would greatly reduce the amount of people driving without insurance.
Young drivers, especially males, we feel that a scheme to encourage and compensate young drivers if they do not have an accident or claim has to be the way to go.
The present system condemns all young drivers by charging ridiculous premiums when it is only the minority that are driving like maniacs. If there were money back incentives for driving safely this would surely help. Someone has got to make a change to the present system which is just encourageing them not to take out insurance at all when the fine if they are prosecuted is only around £200, which is a quarter of what the insurance would cost. its no wonder so many are not bothering. Please when will someone step out here and do something sensible.
