I heard the currency taken is an odd currency in only used in the North of Ireland.
This is akin to stealing $43 Million dollars worth of subway tokens! They’re not making crooks as smart as they used to!

It is possible that the goal of the robbers was not necessarily only to obtain spending cash. They still have left the bank with a hefty self insurance bill to pay and that may affect the sale.

Unlike the US where the Federal Reserve Bank prints all currency, in the UK, banks can print their own currency. In England, the only bank that does so is the Bank of England. However, in Scotland and Northern Ireland, many of the banks print their own notes.
