Former Reuters Team Announces New Security Briefing for Global Transport Industry

June 22, 2004

A group of former Reuters executives, who formed Baronet Media Ltd., have announced a new information venture, Vigilo Risk, aimed at providing information on threats “to the smooth flow of freight and travelers around the world.”

Vigilo Risk will offer “a new security briefing for the global transport, insurance and supply chain industries,” said the bulletin. “The service offers news, analysis and research on all aspects of transport security, putting events into perspective and adding expert insight into their impact on air, sea and surface traffic. It comprises e-mail reports, alerts and a website (www.vigilorisk.com).” It is backed by a network of correspondents in key centers in Asia, Australia, Europe and the Americas.

“We are launching this service because there has been no single source to which transport operators, insurers and others in the supply chain business could turn for focused information about security in transit,” stated Stephen Somerville, Baronet Media Chairman. “As the name implies, Vigilo Risk is keeping watch for threats that can quickly emerge from unexpected quarters,” he added.

The venture will address concerns “from piracy and terrorism to security measures and new regulations,” the bulletin continued. Its briefings are aimed at adding value to “the latest news with comments and analysis by industry experts.” Vigilo Risk will also undertake customized research for clients.

Its e-mail report will be published every two weeks, on alternate Wednesdays. The editors will also be sending out essential alerts between issues and are building up the website as a comprehensive professional service to subscribers.
