NTSB Says Amtrak’s Lax Safety Culture Led to Deadly Crash

    Yes, Amtrak needs to do more to properly train their staff. The most recent I5 crash shows this again in spades. Engineer was running the train at three times the allowed speed into a curve. However, it is way past time Positive Train Control was implemented on ALL tracks where passenger trains run. Enough with allowing the freight companies to keep putting this off. Amtrak spends 800 million on the new line in the North West and does not mandate PTC at the same time? Insane. Even if it were only on the curves it has already been demonstrated it would save lives and money. Just do the right thing, people.
