Hoarding, Explosives Found After Fatal Pennsylvania House Fire

Authorities say extreme hoarding conditions and a cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives were discovered inside a southeastern Pennsylvania home after a fire there killed two residents.

Pennsylvania State Police identified the victims Sunday as 64-year-old A. Katherine Schade and 67-year-old Gary Robert Schade, WGAL-TV reports.

Authorities say they were found dead inside their one-story, ranch-style home in Chester County after firefighters extinguished the blaze early Saturday morning.

Authorities say the fire appeared to be accidental in nature, although they hadn’t pinpointed a precise cause.

Deputy Chief Jason Brooks of the Twin Valley Fire Department says extreme hoarding conditions created challenges and prolonged firefighting efforts.

Brooks says debris removal efforts also uncovered weapons, ammunition and explosives.
