Men Charged With Appliance Theft From Pennsylvania Construction Sites

October 2, 2014

Police have charged four men with stealing more than $100,000 worth of appliances and other items from home construction sites in rural areas of southwestern Pennsylvania.

Police in Ohio Township, Allegheny County, announced the charges Monday, but say the thefts also occurred in neighboring Butler, Washington and Westmoreland counties – usually from sites that were in remote areas.

Police say 35-year-old Charles Fey, of East Pittsburgh, knew about the sites because he worked for a subcontractor for Ryan Homes. Sites being developed by Ryan Homes and S&A Homes have been targeted for months.

Police say Fey tipped off three others who helped him steal the appliances, which were pawned, returned to stores or given or sold to the suspect’s friends.

Online court records don’t list attorneys for Fey and his co-defendants.
