    Shame on these legal charlatans. They no decency or morals. If the courts get sucked into this they’re no better. The negligence that drives the liability is their decision to allow themselves to get into an altered state. There is no defense for that. What is this country coming to? If the idiots who get drunk aren’t responsible, why should bartenders be? Nobody will be responsible for anything.

    Drunk driving as a *defense* to vehicular homicide??? I have seriously heard it all. Shakespeare had the right idea.

    I believe the point is that they were convicted or murder rather than the normal vehicular homicide or manslaughter charges which typically are the convictions people get for killing someone while under the influence.
