Cause Sought for Virginia Church Construction Collapse

Authorities are investigating the collapse of a church addition during construction in Fauquier County.

Fauquier County sheriff’s Lt. Jim Hartman tells The Culpeper Star-Exponent that two construction workers were injured.

The accident occurred Monday during construction of an addition to Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. The church was built in 1902 and is one of the county’s oldest African-American churches.

Virginia Department of Labor and Industry spokeswoman Sharon Sykes says an investigation is under way.
