A tree trimmer is recovering from a leg fracture when a crane toppled in southern New Jersey.
Haddonfield Fire Chief Joe Riggs tells The Courier-Post of Cherry Hill the accident happened around 11 a.m. Thursday when a crew was using the crane to remove sections being cut from a towering tree.
Riggs says the tree was heavier than expected and it caused the crane and truck to tilt. The worker was thrown onto the roof of a home below. He fractured his leg in the fall.
The operator of the vehicle was trapped inside for more than an hour because the crane’s boom tore down a power line and landed on the truck.
The accident is to be reviewed by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
