What a boondoggle. Only 50% of the Towers’ space has been leased yet 4 other building continue to be constructed. As if the 9/11 Memorial wasn’t enough, some genius sold the idea of a museum. Who needs a museum? Construction stalled over cost over runs and a debate on who should pay for this “thing”. The Governor of NY generously backed off the plan to increase tunnel and bridge tolls to pay for it. The “museum’s” operating budget has been estimated at $60,000,000 PER YEAR. The board of directors “hopes” private donations will pay for most of that. What the hell are these people thinking? It will take 3,000,000 visitors annually willing to shell out $20.00 each to break even. That money could have been directed to more meaningful projects than a museum like bounties on the heads of Al Qaeda and the Afghani Taliban. If our government doesn’t have the guts to address the problem, maybe a private venture would.
