Parents Sue Cornell Over Son’s 2010 Death

    This is nonsense. If you’ve ever been to Cornell you’d know the railings are perfectly adequate. If somebody wants to defeat them they will. No duty is owed to protect someone against their own piss poor judgment or stupidity. The university should file a counter-claim for its legal expenses.

    Many years ago when I worked as an Independent Adjuster I was involved in a claim where a drunk Cornell student, days before Christmas, climbed onto the roof of a frat house and attempted to slide down the chimney, as Santa allegedly does. He got stuck part way down and as everyone in the frat house had already left for the holiday, he wasn’t found, dead, till weeks later. His parents also sued Cornell under some theory of negligence. It appears Cornell must somehow be responsible for everything and everyone…
