More Than 30 Taken to Hospital After Connecticut Concert

May 1, 2012

Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton says Western Connecticut State University may want to reconsider hosting “Dayglow” concerts, after more than 30 people who went to a Friday night show on campus had to be taken to a hospital.

University officials told The News-Times of Danbury that most of the people brought to Danbury Hospital Friday night and early Saturday morning were treated for alcohol intoxication. One person was admitted to the hospital, but no serious injuries were reported. Alcohol was not sold at the event.

Dayglow concerts have become popular on college campuses and feature DJs, aerial acts and cannons shooting paint into the audience.

A Danbury Hospital official called Dayglow concerts “patient-producing events” and noted 40 people at a recent concert in Hartford had to be taken to hospitals.
