Maryland Couple Awarded Damages in Shooting of Dog

    How much was for entering the home, how much was for the dog? Does seem they had a warrant. What’s with that?

    We need to see the breakdown of what the settlement represented. All police officers need and should be held to the highest standards in their actions and words. I think he should have taken the bite before shooting a dog inside a house, let the owner remove the dog, back outside the house and call for animal control if it was needed. Tax money out the window and he still has a job to do it again, any retraining of him or the department?? waste of money. Good for this couple, bad for all tax payers.

    I love dogs, have four of them in my home. But 6 figures for a wrongful shooting is stupid.

      No it is not. The award should be high enough to serve as a deterrent for trigger-happy, thoughtless police elsewhere. As you can see from the practice of continuing cop-on dog shootings, even $600K did not help.
