FEMA Extends Deadline to Apply for Virginia Quake Aid

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has extended the deadline for Louisa County, Va., residents affected by the August earthquake and subsequent aftershocks to register for state and federal disaster assistance.

The new deadline for renters, homeowners and business owners to file is March 5. The federal assistance can include grants to pay for temporary housing, essential home repairs, and other serious disaster-related expenses that aren’t covered by insurance or other sources.

Federal coordinating officer Don Keldsen said in a release that previous registrants with FEMA don’t need to re-register, but they should keep their information updated.
