Connecticut Police Hold 2 in Ice Rink Fire Investigation

Connecticut State Police say two men are in custody as troopers investigate fires that damaged a home and destroyed a regional curling club’s ice rink.

Authorities say the incidents in Norfolk culminated with a police chase early Sunday to capture the suspects.

Firefighters were called late Saturday to a fire at an empty home, and were finishing there when they learned the Norfolk Curling Club’s facility was on fire. Officials say it’s likely to be declared a total loss.

Police did not immediately disclose the suspects’ names Sunday or charges they face, but said one is from Massachusetts and the other is from Winsted.

The Norfolk Curling Club’s website says it was established in 1956 and supported with dues from players, who score points by sliding stones across ice toward a target.
