RI Insurance Fraud Suspect Seeks Sentencing Delay

October 6, 2011

The only defendant waiting to learn his punishment for his role in a $40,000 home insurance fraud case in Rhode Island wants his sentencing delayed.

Vincent DiPaolo says in court papers filed Tuesday that he wants his sentencing date pushed back to the week of November 28. The 62-year-old DiPaolo says his defense attorney needs more time to spell out objections to a pre-sentence report.

DiPaolo is set to be sentenced on Oct. 27 in U.S. District Court in Providence. His lawyer, Anthony Traini, is scheduled to be out of state from Oct. 6 to 17.

DiPaolo admitted in August to charges that he helped a former radio personality file a bogus home insurance claim in 2010.

He faces up to 85 years in prison for conspiracy and mail fraud.
