The Virginia Department of Emergency Management says more than 20 aftershocks have been felt in Virginia since the Aug. 23 earthquake.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the latest aftershock, a magnitude 2.1, occurred at 5:56 a.m. Wednesday 4 miles south-southwest of Mineral, the epicenter of the 5.8-magnitude earthquake.
The state agency says state officials won’t know whether Virginia will seek federal assistance until damage assessments are completed.
