Husband of New York Driver Who Killed 8 Blames Signs

The husband of a woman whose wrong-way driving killed eight people on a New York parkway says the road’s warning signs were insufficient.

Daniel Schuler of West Babylon has filed a lawsuit against the state on behalf of a daughter who was killed in the crash and a son who survived.

He says the state did not properly mark the “appropriate lanes of travel.”

Investigators found that his wife, Diane Schuler, was very drunk when she drove with five children past do-not-enter signs and into an SUV carrying three men.

The state attorney general’s office declined comment Tuesday.

The New York Post reported that Schuler also sued his brother-in-law, who owned the minivan and lost three daughters in the crash. Schuler’s lawyer did not return calls seeking confirmation.
