Rhode Island Radio Personality Admits Insurance Scheme

A former Rhode Island disc jockey has pleaded guilty to an insurance fraud scheme involving a former North Providence town councilman recently sentenced on separate corruption charges.

Lori Sergiacomi entered her plea Thursday in federal court in Providence. She’s scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 25.

Sergiacomi — known on the radio as Tanya Cruise — admitted that she and three others conspired to damage her home and submit bogus insurance claims worth just over $40,000. Of her co-defendants, former North Providence Councilman John Zambarano and a former council president, Robert Ricci, already pleaded guilty. Zambarano, who also admitted to separate corruption charges, was sentenced last month to nearly six years in prison.

Insurance adjuster Vincent DiPaolo has pleaded not guilty.

Sergiacomi’s attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
