Such is the ilk of former politicians and police officers. I don’t know what exactly what a harbormaster does, but my sense is it has nothing to do with being a politician or a cop and it probably has a physical component. This idiot just doesn’t get it. You don’t drop the job requirements just because some “dis-abled” moron wants the job. It probably offered ANOTHER retirement opportunity.
If the ACLU weren’t so stupid, it would be embarassed to publish this pathetic result. $7,000 in damages: that speaks volumes over the legitimacy of this case. At least he didn’t get the job.
Not a fan of ACLU for more reasons than I could list. This is another example of law suits for money. A Harbormaster coordinates activities of harbor police force, and does a lot of reporting and advocating, but generally he also would evaluate work performance of captain and crew of ships. And may direct rescue operations from a patrol launch after a major disaster, such as ship collision or downed aircraft. So while a former police officer and former state legislator would be good quilfications for a Harbormaster a physical to see if he could handle the physical demands of the job is quite in line.
I wish him luck in his job search, just hope he doesn’t sue the good citizens again while he is looking.
If he was a police officer first then a legislator, he sure lowered himself because of a job. If he was a bureaucrap first, he sure learned how to milk the system. And the ACLU is no help.

It’s better to be dis-abled since they can’t test to see if you’re ABLE to do the job.
And this is a civil right? Huh.
