The National Weather Service says a tornado struck the suburban Philadelphia city of Chester during Sunday’s storm.
Forecasters say the EF-0 tornado with maximum winds of 75 mph touched down at 3:45 p.m. Sunday and traveled about three-tenths of a mile.
The weather service says no injuries were reported, but many trees were toppled and three houses near the Commodore Barry Bridge had roof and siding damage. An I-95 off-ramp under construction near the bridge was also damaged.
The torrential downpour brought 11/2 to 21/2 inches of rain to the area. A PECO spokesman says it also cut power to about 1,800 residences in eastern Delaware County.
