Storms Topple More Than 120 Trees in Virginia

Summer storms have toppled more than 120 trees in Virginia’s capital since late July.

Arborist Mike Mather with Richmond’s Division of Urban Forestry says it’s probably the worst damage since Tropical Storm Ernesto struck the region in 2006.

Trees felled by the storms include a massive poplar near the Roundhouse in Byrd Park.

Scott Turner’s tree service has operated in the city since 1998. He says he’s never seen this much summer storm damage.
