Ladies and gentlemen of the jury. What we have here is a FORTY EIGHT YEAR OLD LOSER who negligently allowed himself to get high on liquor and drugss, and put himself in a position where he could not fend for himself. This most certainly wasn’t the first time. He was jobless, and did not support his family. His disregard for himself caused his situation. The police are not medical professionals and would have no reason to think he had any deep seated medical condition. He was probably a regular in the drunk tank. Unfortunate as it was that he killed himself through substance abuse, his estate should not be unjustly enriched by a significant monetary award. Do what is right and award the estate $50.00.

Whereas it’s true that this “gentleman” was drunk, what’s the deal with 5 hours in the car? I mean c’mon, if someone left their kid or even their dog in the car for that length of time, they’d be the ones in the back of a patrol car (although probably not for 5 hours) dumb drunk + goofball cop = Ooops!

and if he hadn’t been in the patrol car, but in a alley, or home in bed, he still would have died, right?

I am ashamed for this cop. He should be put in a hot squad car and made to suffer like the man that died. If there ever was a civil rights case that screams for justice all these fine people should pay and pay dearly out of their own pockets. What is our civilization coming too. Scary very scary people.

A guy is picked up for being drunk and on drugs so we’ll show him by locking him up in a car for 5hrs. Isn’t law enforcement to act at a higher standard than one exhibiting criminal behavior or just because we give adrenaline junkies badges we’re supposed to let them run around with reckless abandone. Our court system is based on precedent.
