I wonder if that settlement was paid in dollar bills?

And wtf was this part about:

In 2001, the city and police union agreed to pay $8.7 million to Abner Louima, who was beaten and sodomized with a broomstick in a police precinct by officers.

Sodomized with a broomstick??? This is a first for me on IJ. I am at a loss for words/jokes…………

Mr. Bell and his buddies were not exactly choir boys, not that being thugs warrented being shot but what the story leaves out is that Mr. Bell and his thugs, I mean buddies were in a location known for drug deals, the place was being watched by the cops for weeks. When the police arrived at the location due to fight of some sort Mr. Bell &/or one of his friends throught it might be fun to mention they had a gun, which they did not and then jumped in their car and tried to run the officers over. Why we continue to pay this settlements in NYC is a joke. Mr. Bell had a bit of rap sheet as did his buddies. Again, no reason to be killed but as I tell my kids, hang out where there is trouble and it will find you. The last insult to the NYPD and NYC, some knucklehead had the bright idea to name the street after Mr. Bell, now there is a Sean Bell Blvd. go figure!

And the people of New York have issues with Arizona trying to pass SB1070. Maybe they need to worry about their own city & state vs ours! Same with LA and other places. Fix your home before you bad mouth ours!
And Spins22, if what you say is true, then no wonder NYC has problems with AZ. You guys pay criminals millions and we’re just trying to send them home, be it Mexico, Afghanastan, Iran, Iraq, wherever they’re from.

What is the matter with people on this board? No decency, and less compassion, that’s evident.

50 bullets and a broomstick. Not that I would want to be an officer in NYC but it sounds like they need some anger management and punishment if they can not control it. This is sad not funny.
I agree with the fact that if you hang with trouble it will find you, but we need to protect people not shoot to kill them.
