That’s just freakin’great! $2,000,000 of taxpayer money to enrich the “family” of a 28 year old junkie loser, and why? They certainly didn’t depend on him for support and I doubt he had Sunday dinners with Mom and Dad. This is ridiculous and symptomatic of a sick system.
Man, where’s the compassion? Drug abuse issues cut across all social class lines. Poor guy had issues, for sure, but did he deserve a death sentence? Did he not have real family, real people, who ought to be appopriately indemnified for his untimely demise? Forget the political posturing. This is why we have jobs.
Agreed. He may have been a convicted criminal, but as far as the article says, he wasn’t a murderer or rapist or kidnapper. He was doing his time and was killed in a freak accident. He didn’t deserve that nor the rude comments.
No sympathy for drug dealers. He was arrested multiple times since 2000 for intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession, etc. How do we know no one O/D’d and died from one of his “sales”?
Once, got caught and was cleaning up his act, I’ll accept.
Couple of times, and was still young and may have learned his lesson? maybe.
Habitual, and no evidence at the age of 28 of stopping?
It is not the drug dealer’s fault if someone ODs on drugs they bought from him. Are car dealers held responisable if someone is killed in a car accident if there is no mecanical problem prior to the accident? This article hits close to home for me because I have a loved one in prison due to drug convictions. But my loved one is cleaning up their act. But this is coming from someone that thinks that jail and prison is ment for rehablilitation of criminals, not just punishment (and yes, punishment CAN be used as rehab).
I think that what happened is a tragedy and while you really shouldn’t put a price on someone’s life, insurance companies certainly do. Did they take into consideration, if he was the sole provider for his family and did he work and how much did he earn. If this man was a habitual drug dealer or user, I believe that it may be fair to say that he would not have earned $2,000,000 in his life time. I don’t get this tort system in our country.

check out this guy’s rap sheet. Looks like another “entrepreneur” struck it rich. Even if he’s not around to enjoy it.

He made his choice long ago.
I have to agree with Kurt and Franklin.
