As a member of the Insurance Claims community and in particular as an investigator of Fraudulent Claims I have to say that a potential 25 years in prison for this crime seems a little like overkill to me.
We have killers out in three years on a plea for 2nd to manslaughter and out the door.
I think one would be hard pressed to find a judge to hand this harsh of a sentence out, and I am certainly not advicating what he did as the right thing. But let’s not lose sight of the fact that the man was a peace officer which leads me to believe he had a clean record before becoming a police officer. I think the loss of his job and a year on probabtion would be a more appropriate punishment than 25 years in prison.
