It has been apparent to my office and my staff that in the last 12 months the fraud has spiked. I think your article places fraud at 24% which is actually a very conservative figure.

We have begun to see total theft claims again on autos, a type of claim that had all but disappeared.

The potential fraudulent claims should not be made easy for the policyholder. Every legal tactic available to us should be used, so the pickings are not too easy. With the late model vehicles in particular, it is almost impossible to steal one of these vehicles.

The carriers should school their claims departments via seminars etc., on what cars can be easily stolen and what cars can’t.

Our office provides this type of seminar free of charge to our clients and with a reasonable fee for non clients.
