Does a radical Muslim have a right to head a New York City public school? The federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission seems to think so.

That panel ruled last week that city officials discriminated against Debbie Almontaser when they forced her out as principal of the taxpayer-funded madrassa she helped found.

Yet the Khalil Gibran International Academy, which is billed as an Arabic-themed public school, was a bad idea from the start — and Almontaser was an even worse choice to lead it.

As The Post reported in 2007, Almontaser served as spokesman for an organization that shared office space with an Arab group that hawked T-shirts bearing the slogan “Intifada NYC” — an apparent reference to the bloody Palestinian terror campaign against Israeli civilians.

Incredibly, Almontaser defended the shirts, claiming that “intifada” was really just an Arabic word for “shaking off.”

Never mind, as The Post also reported, that the group’s co-founders were members of an outfit that advocates the elimination of the Jewish state.

At best, in other words, Almontaser — a self-styled “moderate” — was willfully blind to the reality of Islamic terror and has no business teaching city schoolkids for that reason alone.

More likely, she played the folks at the Education Department for fools….

I’m a bit confused as to why there are any specific ethic based schools. I thought that when people come to the US from other countries they were coming to become Americans. Or has that somehow changed over the years. What’s wrong with just an American school, where everyone is on the same page. Let the children’s parents teach them whatever culture they want at home and leave the reading, writing and arthimatic to teachers with no specific background. We are our own worst enemy. We encourage these things to happen when we allow it.

Not only is attending an “Arab-speaking” school not a good way to assimilate into American life, but this characterization serves to hide the fact that it’s a MUSLIM SCHOOL. That’s even more worser.

May we have please a CHRISTIAN SCHOOL at taxpayer expense? Hmmmm?

Good point Al. We both know that will never happen because Christians act like Christians, not other 3rd world minorities. Seems the term “assimilation” has been lost on recent immigrants. It’s interesting America NEVER had these kinds of problems with our founding European immigrants who came here to become AMERICAN. Hispanics, Muslims, Indians, and others have shown NO INTEREST in leaving their old countries behind. They talk the same, dress the same, eat the same foods, and act the same. The sad part is, they expect real AMERICANS to roll over and let them do it.

p.s. I’m insulted by having to “press one for English”. Immigrants should have to pass a proficiency test in English to come here. If I want to hear/speak their jibberish, I’ll visit their country.
