Did anyone else catch that middle part??

    …Using a FAX MACHINE.

Really?? a fax machine while driving? Only in NJ could that possibly be an issue.

They should also put in there attending to children. If I can’t attend to my pet, why can some parent hit my car attending to their brat in the backseat!!??!!

    Hi Guys:

Why not a FAX machine, Last Friday I was almost T-boned by a fellow with a newspaper spread on the steering wheel, eating a hoagie with right hand while holding a cellphone to his ear with the left. Never even knew he blew a light, nor acknowledge horns .

I’m sure this is just another feel good law that does not apply to law enforcement. Cops are operating laptop computers while they are driving. I’m sure this legislation will stop that behavior.

Will we fine distracted drivers more than drinking drivers since they do the majority of killing on the roadways? I doubt it.

Another well thought out revenue generation scheme for legislators

My husband is an officer. His laptop does not give him access to internet, it’s only an intra-work computer for pulling up calls and searching license plates. They do not have games installed on them, nor movies, etc. Just fyi… Also, they are trained in their driving academy to use the laptop, cell phone, and radio at the same time while driving in order to save people’s lives.

so what if he’s been trained! if it is a distraction, then it is! if he can be trained, what makes you think that others can not be trained or have OJT! afterall, doe not truckers have cb’s? but a laptop includes looking at the computer and typing to get the information he needs, no different than deciding to change a radio station. at least you don’t have to read. now what about if he’s texting the family on his cell while driving that company vehicle. question is how would he know what you were doing prior to the accident anyways? how can you be sure? this will be the question and it can not be verified, unless he absolutely seen the driver do that. so what if, the car in front of me was changing the dial and noticed that he missed his turn, and slams on his brakes – then i slide into his rear because i could not stop my car in time? will they then charge the distracted driver for the accident? i don’t think so! this is a bogus bill, only probably to see if they can get more money into the state’s coffers because they are going bankrupt.
