It is, by law, the responsibility of the driver of a car, when a traffic signal is out to STOP. In effect a signal light that is out becomes a 4 way stop.

you are exactly right. what happened to being a responsible driver? if it was a bad ice storm, do you think they want to endanger their drivers? afterall, you could have slid into them yourself. then, who would you sue? them for being their and trying to fix the light? or would be correct and indentifing yourself as to blame for losing control?

simply put, nature does not control your car for driving. you enter an intersection basically at a control crash site. even w/the lights working you might not have been able to stop and got into an accident.

I found this report hard to believe, until I re-read it and discovered the motorist was from MA – It all makes sens now.

Personal responsibility went out the window a year ago last November!

Also named in the suit was the manufacturer of the calcium chloride that evidently did not melt the ice that caused the intersection to become slippery. The car maker was also included in the suit when it was discovered that the little light on the guy’s rear view mirror that warns of ice, was not flashing ice, thereby giving him a false sense of security about entering the intersection.

Anyone been around long enough to remember the story some 20 years back where someone was pushing a man in a wheelchair acorss the street in a crosswalk when a car ran the red light and hit them. Do you remember who got sued? That’s right, the company that made the wheelchair.

I agree, we should not blame the president. He did not cause anything. It’s all Bush’s fault!

You are correct. I’m guessing the adverse driver did not have insurance. Going after the city’s deep pockets. Good luck with that.
