Goats Survive Maryland Farm Building Roof Collapse

A volunteer firefighter says five goats survived the partial collapse of a farm building near the western Maryland community of Indian Springs.

Lt. Zachary Reid of the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Department says part of the roof collapsed under the weight of snow Sunday afternoon.

He says emergency responders used snowmobiles to reach the structure and shovels to dig out the trapped goats.

Reid says the building’s owner and about 20 other animals, including sheep and chickens, were in the building at the time but were not hurt.
