Why does this problem affect only black kids? There are plenty of other nationalities that live in public housing that don’t seem to have this problem.

Why do you think they are black? Race was not mentioned in the article?

Judging by their names and venue, it’s pretty apparent they aren’t European, Asian, or Hispanic. Blacks have been mining the lead paint issue for decades.

This is a well-known revenue stream in Baltimore; there are several plaintiff’s attorneys scouring the neighborhoods for additional claimants. What gets me is the only causal link found for these kids’ cognitive and physical ailments is lead paint, never mind that they lived in a household where the parents smoked cigarettes, pot, crack, and drank alcohol to excess…but these elements are not permitted to be brought up in court. Hard to fight these lawsuits; plaintiff’s attorneys who are mining this vein have found a pot o’ gold just getting settlements and you can be sure that juries are all too willing to award “damages” because someone has to pay and insurance companies are very profitable, aren’t they? they can afford it, can’t they? some justice!

I work in this industry, and to the person who made the statement about “only black kids” being effected is completely inaccurate and unsubstantiated. I just worked on a case where a young white male whose parents aren’t poor or living in run-down house but instead a newly renovated 3 story in butchers hill but because of windows being replaced irresponsibly by the contractor the kid developed lead poisoning. These types of cases happen all the time. You should be a little more reserved in your judgment before you make a moronic comment about a subject you obviously have no idea about
