    Anyone know more of the circumstances around this case? Just on this small excerpt I would suspect that i can use this case as an example of why all firms need to perform a background screen on current and prospective employees. Seems like workplace violence incidents keep ticking up.

    I did some searching around but wasn’t able to find too much. Seems the suit alleged that the murderer was a known thug / drug abuser and should have been subject to stricter hiring standards than were exercised by the company. There was another snippet that alleged that the construction company employees did nothing to prevent the attack while it was occurring.

    you mean home depot doesnt run background checks on the day laborers in their parking lot?

    I think a good reporter would have made sure there were enough details in the original story that we wouldn’t be asking all of these question. Poor job, Ins Journal

    It was the killer’s brother, not his own. Aside from that..the answer is $$$$$$!!!!
