Man Injured by Facade Collapse at Connecticut Mall

A section of facade at the Connecticut Post mall collapsed earlier this week, injuring one person and forcing several stores to close.

Mall officials say the accident happened on the mall’s upper level at about 11:15 a.m. on Monday. The mall remained open as workers cleaned up the 200-feet of broken wallboard. A building inspector ordered five stores in the immediate vicinity closed.

Police say a 27-year-old male shopper suffered some abrasions on his back and was treated at the scene by firefighters before being sent to a local hospital for observation.

The accident occurred in front of PCX, a children’s clothing store that opened on July 1.
