Granted, the sympathy factor will loom large in the weak minds of jurors who lack the ability to separate emotion from fact. That said, there’s still the issue of “assumption of risk” that will most likely get buried. The victim knew the strength and disposition of the beast and feared it. Nonetheless, she continually place herself in a position of peril with little regard for her personal safety. Now she’s costing the taxpayers tens of millions of dollars in medical expenses at one of the best facilities in the country with no hope of returning to anything close to a decent quality of life. She’s blind and has no face, all because of some stupid monkey some idiot had to harbor. When the thing went on its final rampage, the owner should have called animal control or the police, not her friend/employee. And…….the victim should have refused to assist. This entire episode could/should have been prevented.

Good points, and simply a tragedy which impacts alot of people forever…

Wild animals are meant to be wild and not in captivity. This chimp simply snapped and destroyed this lady physically and mentally.
