The families of two people killed when they drove off a washed-out bridge during flooding in 2005 have sued the town of Unity, N.H.
They argue the town was negligent because it didn’t close the road or put up warning signs.
Steven Day of Unity and Ashley Gates of Claremont were killed when their vehicle drove into the raging Little Sugar River in October 2005.
The town has denied any wrongdoing. It has no police department and says it had received no notice that it was responsible to block roads. It also argues the collapse of a bridge on Unity Stage Road was unforeseeable.
Day and Gates were among seven people killed in the flooding.
