Arson at Maryland House Causes $260K in Damage

November 10, 2008

Maryland fire marshals are investigating a fire marshals say was intentionally set at a home in Cambridge, Maryland last month.

Marshals say someone set fire to Nathan and Christina Johnston’s home on Oct. 21. Nathan Johnston woke up to hear the smoke alarm going off about 1:30 a.m. and firefighters put the fire out in about one hour.

However, authorities say the fire caused $260,000 in damage. The one-story home and two cars parked in a three-car garage were destroyed, but the Johnstons weren’t injured.

Investigators say the fire was started on the outside of the three-car garage. Authorities have followed up on leads but are seeking help from people who may have seen someone acting suspiciously or starting the fire.
