Hey, IJ, how about waiting until the trial resumes, or maybe even concludes, to report on it. Is this really worth publishing? Was it THAT slow of a news day?

Good thing this crooked judge got caught. Let’s hope he’ll eventually get his just deserts. Back when I used to do auto claims, I had a similar situation with the CFO of a major car dealership. He was a triathlete and had a pre-existing sports injury to his shoulder that he claimed he got in a no-damage rear ender while driving his employer’s car and required surgery. The other driver’s carrier didn’t investigate and settled for $250K. The CFO was looking for another $250K under his employer’s UIM coverage, but I found out the conditon was unrelated and he was doing triathlons even while he was negotiating pro se with the driver’s carrier, and denied the UIM claim. I notified that carrier but the adjuster didn’t want to resurrect the file because that would have gotten him in trouble. So the CFO got away with stealing $250K. We notified the insured, his employer, but to date he still has his job.
