Police in New York State say the 17-year-old driver in a crash that killed a passenger had a junior license and should not have been driving when the accident occurred.
Three teens were driving home from a party early Saturday when the one-car accident occurred in the Dutchess County Town of East Fishkill. Sixteen-year-old Christopher Ulanmo was killed and another teen suffered minor injuries. The driver wasn’t injured.
Police say the driver’s junior license doesn’t allow him to be behind the wheel between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., except when traveling directly between home and work or a school course. All other driving between those hours must be accompanied by a licensed adult.
The accident is still under investigation but findings have ruled out alcohol as a cause.
