A tragic story, but not be a compensable claim as there is no liability. The girl knew how to swim and was not “swept off the sandbar”. She was attempting to swim back to shore and was carrying an 8 year old boy to safety. Her father reached both of them and assisted the boy first. By that time, the girl had ingested too much water. Signs were posted regarding rip currents. This beach is know for having dangerous currents. One assumes a risk anytime one enters the ocean.
