No one in this world should get abused, but is giving money to people a way to solve the problem? After all these years to get $$ to solve the hardships people went through?

One of the rare times the accused priest is actually still alive and the guy doesn’t even name him in the suit. Outrageous.

There needs to be a statute of limitations on these suits. There should also be a stipulation that criminal charges must be filed before a civil suit can be filed in such matters, and the accused must be named in the civil suit. I’m sure there are other stipulations that should be put into place.

    Give me a break.

Another ******** verdict. This clown muddled through life for 30 some years before he decided to follow the herd and cash in on his misfortunes. This is a social problem that calls for a focus on the root cause, not enriching people for some subjective allegations. What are the courts and juries thinking when they reward some adult who suddenly comes forward claiming Father Nelson grabbed his *** 30 or 40 years ago? Some kind of reforms/preventive measures within the church should be the remedy.

His attorney said it best: “What was important to him was that a jury had recognized what he had been through,”. Based on that statement it’s clear that it isn’t the money but the recognition he craved. He’ll probably donate the money, or at least a big part of it, back to the congregation so their church doesn’t founder under the weight of such a huge financial award.

Sorry but I have to disagree with you on this one. If it is not about the money, then why waste the time & effort to get the money? I am going to have to disagree with you on this one as I am sure that he has no plans to donate it. Cime on…you really think it is going somewhere?

I think it’s funny that someone posting on an insurance website thinks the purpose of an award for damages is to “solve the problem”.

What I posted was to ask the question of WHY wait so long to come up with a claim? Did it take this long for the damages to occur?
