As a twenty yeara vendor of Atlantic Mutual, I am happy to send a strong Company like Ace come in and take over. I am not sure what the structure of the deal made between Ace and Atlantic Mutual was, but I know Atlantic was one of the finest companies ever and does not deserve a death by dissolution. I think that the fine Excecutives at Atlantic who made certain deals prior to the one with Ace were not sufficiently street smart to be dealing with the barricudas the encountered. Consequently much of their personal lines business was stolen with the sale of their commercial book. Many of their Agents were less than loyal and jumped ship for 1 or 2%. I hope this new arrangement works out. The public needs more than Chubb out there.
Let’s face it, many have tried, but there have always been just two special insurers for high wealth Insured’s and that is Chubb and Atlantic Mutual.
Good Luck to all in the new venture.

    President

can this carrier actually be competitive with the AIG Private Client Group, Chubb, Fireman’s Fund and to a lesser extent, Travelers who thinks they are a fringe player in the High Net Worth personal lines market space.

I WISH THE BEST OF LUCK TO THE NEW HEAD OF ACE PERSONAL LINES. AS AN EX EMPLOYEE OF ATLANTIC MUTUAL I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE COMPANY RE VITALIZED, EVEN IF THEIR NAME IS DIFFERENT. THE CONCEPT OF HIGH WEALTH INSURED’S IS A GOOD ONE AND WORKED WELL FOR ATLANTIC FOR MANY YEARS.

I WISH LUCK TO JOHN AND ALL THE NEW PEOPLE AT ACE IN THIS UNDERTAKING.

    JJ MINNELLA
    VICE PRESIDENT
    SUBROGATIONS DIVISION LTD.

YES, THIS CARRIER CAN BE COMPETITIVE. AIG IS BIG. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE GOOD. SPEAK TO SOME PEOPLE INSURED WITH ATLANTIC OR CHUBB AND THEN SPEAK TO AIG AND THE OTHER WANNABES. THE QUESTION IS CAN AIG AND FIREMAN’S COMPETE WITH ACE. ACE HAS LEFT THE MACHINE OF ATLANTIC MUTUAL IN TACT. THEIR PEOPLE WILL KNOW EXACTLY HOW TO SERVICE THE HIGH END INSURED’S ONCE THEY BEGIN TO WRITE. AND FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, WRITING BIG IS WHAT THEY INTEND TO DO.
LET’S NOT FORGET THAT ACE IS A MULTI BILLION DOLLAR ORGANIZATION WITH THE CAPACITY TO DO WHAT THEY WISH TO DO.

This all sounds nice, but the carrier does not appear to have a broad enough distrubution network at this juncture. Many of the big players do not represent the product line. How will this hiring stimulate this existing void in distribution.

I hope for the sake of our group who handles all the subrogation for Atlantic Mutual that Ace goes with our firm. These big companies have a tendency to handle everything in house. We have a great recovery rate with Atlantic but you never know.
