Ive been driving and texting ever since I was young and Ive never had a problem. I can still keep one eye on the road and usually its not a problem.

    These laws are a joke.

Exactly how old are you? Would you like to get just a little older? Stop doing things that distract from driving. I don’t care about you, but my family and I don’t need you out there doing everything but paying attention.

The only reason these laws are a joke is that the law is almost uninforcable. It is a feel-good law that someone pushed for after having been involved in an accident with a distracted driver.

Don’t get me wrong, I honestly wish there was an answer… unfortunately I don’t see how the answer can be legislated.

If it were affordable, they could look up the phone records after the accident, and issue a ticket. Which I know they did after 4 hot cheerleaders were killed near Rochester NY. Very sad.

I think this whole thing is a big joke. A resonable person could not expect that someone texting while driving would have their attention fully on driving. Driving a vehicle is not a part-time activity. It only takes a second or two for something to happen and if someone’s attention is on reading or entering a text message then catastrophe is just waiting to happen.

As for cellphone use – I occasionally will use a hands free device but even then my attention tends to wander a bit.

What did we do before cell phones came along? We waited until we got someplace we could place a call if it were all that important.

I would wager than 99+% of all cell phone calls while driving were unnecessary.

Pass the laws! Make them prinary!

    It’s a no-braner.

And by the way – has anyone else seen walkling and using a cell phone begin to walk across the street without checking for traffic or even noticing the red light at the crosswalk? Sure – that that is another example of how cell phone use really does take your attention.

You are at the mercy of people who do not take their seizure medicine, drunks, druggies, and people who text when you are out on the road. Good luck. We all need it.
