I can see where he’s coming from, but it appears from the article the track did what was reasonable to prevent this. He’ll probably win millions because “somebody has to pay”. Too bad for the track.

An experienced auto racing TV host should know better than to turn his back on oncoming race cars and to stand too close to the track. The fences are there to prevent debris from hitting spectators, not stop an out-of-control,airborne race car. It would be interesting to know if anyone else was injured and whether this guy had positioned himself in a perilous spot to get some advantage in shooting the race. Also interesting his attorney didn’t mention a theory of liability. This is pure assumption of risk but I have no faith the courts will do the right thing and toss the suit.

This guy knew the risks involved with his occupation or passtime.

He was seriously injured, and is a good friend of mine, but John wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for the -itch he is with. He deserves something but it’ll all get spent very rediculously as long as he’s with the money hungry -itch he’s with.
