Connecticut Sues One Company, Fines Four Others for Water Pollution

The state is suing a Branford company, while reaching an agreement to collect some $600,000 from four other companies for water pollution.

Attorney General Richard Blumenthal is suing Atlantic Wire Co. of Branford, accusing it of discharges of toxic waste into the Branford River.

A lawyer for the Connecticut Fund for the Environment says four companies have agreed to consent orders.

The four companies are Electric Boat of Groton, which discharges into the Thames River; Whyco Finishing Technologies of Thomaston, which discharges into the Naugatuck River; and Allegheny Ludlum and Cytec Industries, both of Wallingford, which discharge into the Quinnipiac River.
