Perhaps if this was in place last year, I would not have been texting someone while driving my car…Yes, I knew better, but I rear-ended a vehicle and cost me and my insurance company more than $4K

Why are the tree huggers debating a common sense matter? You have to take your eyes off the road to write a text message. Talking is bad enough much less typing on a miniscule keyboard. Anyone who feels driving is a part time job is an idiot. It requires 100% focus and even then it’s a challenge. We shouldn’t need to legislate common sense.

Ah, but Dread, it’s not necessarily the “tree huggers” that are not following common sense on this one. It’s the highly driven professionals, the lawyers, the insurance agents, and teenagers.

And common sense is defined as a vague, uninformed opinion. I don’t want anyone basing things on “common sense”; I want them to become informed and refine their opinions through debate.

Finally – this is just a hot-button issue. While I don’t condone it I can’t blast texting because we all do things in the car that are just as bad – talking on the cell phone, talking to passengers, changing radio stations, putting in a cd, eating, driving tired, driving intoxicated – the NTSB has listed all of these things as equally bad.

good idea is a very good idea…check the other article on MA doing the same, it has already passed one house. and read the blog over there. why is the a major issue? it shudn’t be! are we not a society trying to give every life a chance? is that what we fight our freedoms for including those not our own? truly – we need to bring responsibility back as a valid virtue. need to stop pawning off that virtue upon others and companies. for one – you are the person driving your car. your own actions cause the damage, not a gremlin in the vehicle.if there are gremlins, would you not know how to drive your vehicle a certain way. if something is wrong with the vehicle, get it fixed – safer for you and for me!
