Nightclub Owner Accused of Trying to Burn Down Business

The owner of an Oxford, Mass. nightclub was indicted on charges she tried to set it on fire after losing her liquor license.

At her arraignment, 46-year-old Roxanne Troy plead not guilty in U.S. District Court in Worcester on charges of soliciting to commit arson and attempted arson.

Federal prosecutors allege Troy solicited someone to set fire to Rox’s in late winter and early spring of this year. The club has remained closed since failing to comply with new fire safety regulations.

Oxford Fire Chief Jeffrey Wilson said no fires have occurred at Rox’s in 2007 or recent years.

A message left for Troy Thursday was not immediately returned.
